Dr. Gonzalez’s work in education and leadership reflects a commitment to teaching, mentorship, and building stronger clinical communities. His experience includes resident teaching, curriculum development, point-of-care ultrasound education, recruitment and committee service, and national leadership through the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine Resident Council. Across these roles, he has focused on advancing practical learning, thoughtful collaboration, and the development of physicians committed to high-quality, patient-centered care.

Dr. Gonzalez contributes to medical education through conference lectures, resident-focused didactics, and co-development of a point-of-care ultrasound elective for family medicine residents. His teaching emphasizes musculoskeletal reasoning, practical primary care education, and fellowship preparation.

Dr. Gonzalez recently served as the 2025 President of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine Resident Council. He has also served within the Resident Committee on the Rush Education Environment, the Family Medicine Residency Didactics Committee, the Family Medicine Residency Recruitment Committee, and the POCUS Residency Curriculum as POCUS Champion.

Selected recent educational presentations include Decoding Back Pain for Primary Care at the Family Medicine Midwest Conference, Machine Learning in Healthcare: A Primer for Clinicians, and Applying to Sports Medicine Fellowship for Resident Special Interest Group. Additional faculty development work includes participation in the Rush University Medical Center Program Directors’ Retreat on giving effective feedback.

His approach to teaching is grounded in clarity, clinical relevance, and collaborative mentorship, with an emphasis on helping trainees apply musculoskeletal and sports medicine concepts in real-world practice.
